Last night, Chris and I went to see "Fools Gold" at the Cinefour Movie Theater. We had a couple of free tickets that we needed to use so we decided to check out what was playing Saturday night and went to go see it. I didn't really think it was a great movie, but it was nice to go out on a date. It is a whole new life with him being done with all of his classes and not having any homework to do. I must say I rather enjoy it.

Hanging out with my Sister :)
My sister, Michelle, came up to spend some time with me this weekend. It was a lot of fun! She came up Friday night to spend the night and I colored and trimmed her hair that evening and then we watched "How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days." We woke up the next morning and got ready for the day and decided we both wanted a cup of coffee and a little chatting time (a tradition we have each time her or my mom come up). I really enjoy just hanging out with my sisters. Unfortunately, since my other sister lives in California, I don't get to see her as often. One thing I will miss when we move is not being close to any family, but at least Chris and I will have each other.
After coffee, Chris wanted to take my sister and I up to the university to show us his vibrating couch now that it is all put together and working. It was really cool, we both sat down on the couch and watched a scene from Die Hard. There was so much action and the couch was vibrating like crazy on the gunfire and explosion parts. My sister asked Chris if he could put the program in their couch at home. :) She thinks her husband, Josh, would like it. My sister left to go back home this afternoon and I went to get my hair trimmed. I always love a good trim! My hairstylist is fantastic and I am so sad that I will have to find someone new when I move away!

Keeping Chris Company
Chris is getting crazy this time of year with his senior projects coming due this Monday the 28th and having to prepare for his presentations. He wanted me to come up to the school with him tonight while he is putting some finishing touches on the designs he has made so I thought I would update my blog with all of the brilliant things he has done. His first project, him and his group designed and built a vibrating couch that goes along with a surround sound system. Click on vibrating couch to view his web page for it. I just hope the guys don't fight over who gets the couch once they are done with it! :) His next project his team designed and built a Dynomometer which measures horsepower for Radio Control cars. Chris of course had no problem fronting the money for this project and ended up getting himself two monster truck RC cars out of the deal. Here is a link for this project as well. Click on RC dynomometer to view his web page for this one. It amazes me the stuff my husband has to know in order to come up with these things. He tries to show me programs he has written for the projects and they go way over my head. I guess that is why he is the engineer and I am not! I wouldn't cut it.
This is a picture of the control circuits for the couch that Chris drew on the white board before implementing it on the couch. Doesn't make much sense to me.
Here is a picture of the couch with all the electronics attached to it to actually make it vibrate along with the surround sound system.
Here is a picture of the Dynomometer they built with one of the two trucks Chris owns strapped to the machine.Sunday, April 20, 2008
Getting Ready for the Move
Well, the thought of moving is becoming a little stressful; trying to decide where we are going to live, what company we are going to use to move, if we are going to rent a trailer and tow it behind one of our cars or if we rent a truck and tow our car on it, what things we are going to keep and what things we are going to sale - and the list goes on! We spent all day today looking online trying to decide what we may do and we have still yet to come to a solution. On a happy note, my parents came up for weekend and spent the night Friday night and spent the day with me on Saturday before they went back home. It was a fun time: coffee in the morning, shopping, shopping, and more shopping!

Weekend Fun
My parents are coming up to visit us this weekend. :) They are coming up after I get off work tonight and are going to spend the night and hang out with us. They need to get all of their visiting time in since they won't be able to do that too much longer without a whole vacation trip being planned. Chris is in his last couple weeks of school so he has been crazy with senior projects and will be up at the school all day on Saturday so it will be nice to have my parents here to keep me company. I have gone through a lot of books the past few months - I find if I have a book that I am interested in I do much better at allowing Chris to get his school work done. If I don't have a good book, I am constantly bugging him - asking if he is finished and ready to hang out and go do something. I am so excited for them to come up. I can hardly wait until I get off of work and my day just barely started so I have a while. I love spending girl time with my mom, something I will miss not being close to her!

Celebration
Chris got home late last night around midnight from his trip so I didn't even get to really talk to him about his trip and congratulate him. I was trying to stay awake so I could talk to him, but once I started feeling myself start to doze and realized I wasn't going to make it, I had to settle for writing him a little note. He woke me up for a brief moment when he got home and told me he was going to shower and then would be coming to bed, but again I fell asleep before he ever made it out. So, when we got home from work today, we went out to dinner to celebrate. We went to Golden Corral - his choice (he loves that place). We just talked about his trip, how the interview went, and how we are so excited for this
opportunity. Then we came home and had some cherry cheesecakes I had made to help celebrate. When we got home, we started looking at some of the information Chris was given about Texarkana and where we would possibly be living. We are planning on going on a cruise this summer before we leave so we browsed the internet for some information on where we would possibly like to go (still undecided). I am so glad to have him back home, it was a lonely couple of days without him!

Texas Here We Come!
Chris had his interview today in DC and he was accepted into the "Fellowes" program. We will be moving to Texarkana, Tex
as and he will be attending a branch of Texas A&M University to get his masters in business. He starts school on the 9th of July so we will be moving there shortly. It is kind of funny because right now Chris attends Utah State University whose mascot is the Aggies and now he will be attending Texas A&M whose mascot is also the Aggies. We are so excited to start our new adventure, but also a little nervous to move to a new place where we do not know anybody. It will be sad to leave both of our families here in Utah, but this will be a great opportunity for Chris and I supp
ort him 100%. If you look closely on the map you will see Texarkana right on the border of Texas and Arkansas. Texarkana actually is in both states. Chris will be attending school for the first 13 months (paid by the Fellowes Program) and then for the next four years we will be required to stay with the company and will move around for the next four years to a different state every 12-18 months. I am so proud of Chris, he deserves only the best!!!

Flying to DC
Chris left this morning for his interview in Washington DC. His interview is tomorrow morning at 9:45 Eastern time. I am so nervous and he is not nervous at all...shouldn't it be the other way around? I am however glad that he is not nervous for it because interview's are already stressful enough. He had a good flight, even got bumped up to better seats so he was pretty excited for that. He called me when he arrived to let me know he got in ok and told me he was already lonely. I wish I could have gone with him, it would have been a lot of fun! Well, we will find out more tomorrow once he had had his interview. We will see if we are destined for Texas or if we are still Utah bound. Will have an update as soon as we find out.

Getting Snazzy for Interviews
Anyone who knows my husband, knows he does not get dressed up (ever). His idea of dressing up is a pair of khaki's and a button up shirt. So, with him graduating soon and having interviews, we didn't really think that kind of attire would cut it for an engineering interv
iew. So we went shopping and found him a nice suit (two actually, they were having a special.) The salesman was so helpful to us since neither of us had ever been shopping for a suit before. We had to get the works - the suit, shirt, tie, shoes, even a belt. Literally, the boy didn't own a single pa
ir of nice clothes up until now. I took some pictures of him trying on the suits and you can even tell he is not thrilled to be getting one. It's pretty bad when the salesman knows you are not excited about getting a suit. Anyways, he now owns two and says he will probably never even get a chance to wear the second one and will probably only wear the one for interviews. He is crazy. I thought he looked really nice. The last time I saw him dressed up was for our wedding and the times before that was for homecoming and prom. And those are the only three times I have seen him in nice clothes. Don't get me wrong, he always looks nice in his jeans, but it is just different when you see your man dressed up!

The Beginning of Our Lives Together
I decided the best way to start off our blog was to start from when we began our lives together as a married couple. We were married a few years ago, this coming May. We were married on May 7th of 2005. We had a wonderful, fun ceremony and reception with our friends and family. It was one of the best days of my life. We met in high school and started dating the end of our junior year. I didn't care much for Chris when we first met the beginning of our junior year, but 1 year later he won over my heart and has had it ever since.
Here is our wedding party: my side is my sisters and my cousins, and Chris's side is his brother, his cousin, and his friends.

Here is Chris and I toasting after the wedding before cutting into the cake. We were nice to each other and did not shove cake in each other's faces.

Here we are after the reception heading out for our honeymoon to Park City, Utah for 5 days and 4 nights. It was a wonderful, relaxing trip after the hectic life of the wedding.
